Transferring music from Android to iPhone. If you’re like us and you’re very specific about the songs you listen to, then this will be the first thing you want to do to switch from your Android phone to your iPhone. When you switch to your iPhone, will you take your music with you, and how will you do that? That’s what we’re going to talk about in this post.

Can I transfer music directly from Android to iPhone?

For transferring music from Android to iPhone, there are a few things to consider, but you may wonder if you can do it directly from Android to iPhone.

If you have audio files

If you’re a fan of high-quality audio, no matter how many streaming music options you have, you’ll want to transfer your entire offline music collection to your new iPhone. The method of transferring music from Android to iPhone is possible but tricky.

We say this because you can’t move your music directly from Android to iPhone if you don’t want to rely on third-party applications/services.

If you use Spotify, Apple Music or other streaming services.

Most of us depend on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and all the other music listening services in a world where streaming services dominate most of the content we consume. If you already pay for one or more of these subscription services, all you need to do is download the application and log into your account to transfer music from Android to iOS.

Indeed, you can install all the major streaming services directly on iOS, and you can access all your content just by logging into your account. On your new iPhone, you can download the following streaming applications and start listening to your favorite genre right now:

What do you want?

If you decide to transfer all audio files from your Android device to your iPhone, before starting the transfer process, you should consider the following.

  • Mac or Windows computer
  • USB to Lightning or USB-C to Lightning cable [to connect Mac and iPhone].
  • USB-A/USB-C to Micro USB/USB-C cable, depending on your Android, PC and Mac connection.
  • WiFi network [for iTunes Match and Feem v4 app].

Preparatory steps

Since we have found that there is no official way to establish a direct connection between an Android device and the iPhone, you must first connect your Android device to the computer and use it as a way to transfer music to the iPhone.

You can use one of the two methods listed here to copy audio files from an Android smartphone to a Mac or Windows computer, depending on the device you have.

Method 1 – Transferring music from Android to Mac

To transfer files from an Android device to a Mac, you need to install Android File Transfer on a Mac by downloading it from the highlighted link and following the on-screen instructions.

Use the data cable that came with Android to connect your Android phone to your Mac after enabling the Android file transfer software. You’ll need a USB-C to USB-A (or USB-C) adapter to connect your phone to your Mac, or a USB-C to Micro USB/USB-C cable to connect all devices directly if you have a new MacBook.

Your Android computer can only play content on your Mac if it is unlocked. Unlock your phone to make sure all your Android files are accessible on your Mac.

After you unlock Android, open the notifications panel by dragging it from the top of your phone’s computer.

“Tap” the message here in the line “Tap other USB options”.

This should cause a new menu of options to appear on your computer. In this list, click on the “File Transfer/Auto” option to allow your Mac to read files on your Android computer.

Open Android Transfer files from Mac Launchpad folder or applications after connecting Android to Mac.

When you connect your Android computer to your Mac, in most cases the Android file transfer program should appear by itself.

All files and folders open on your Android computer are now available to you. Select files or folders that contain audio files for copying music and drag them into the Apple Music/iTunes library on your Mac.

Your audio files have now been transferred to your Mac, so you can later transfer them to your iPhone using one of the strategies we’ll talk about later.

Method 2 – Transferring music from Android to Windows

It is much easier to transfer music from your Android phone to a Windows PC than you have to do on a Mac. To play your Android storage, you don’t need an application like Android File Transfer and you can access it directly by connecting your Android to the PC.

First, use the included USB-A to USB/Micro USB cable to connect your Android phone to your Windows computer.

Once the shortcut is created, unlock your Android and go to the notifications panel. You will receive a notification from your Android device that your phone is connected via a USB cable. Press “More USB Options” to select from the list of network options.

To start transferring music files, select “File Transfer” or “File Transfer” from this list. This will ensure that your local storage and Android SD is available on your Windows PC.

Open the file explorer on your computer and under “This Computer” check if your Android device is available. Double-click it to open the device.

If your phone is equipped with an SD card, you will see the memories “Phone” and “Card” when you open the Android device. Open the memory from which you want to copy your songs.

Find and copy the files and folders where the audio files are stored and copy them to the desired location on your PC.

You can remove the music from the Windows taskbar after moving it from Android to the PC and then disconnect the device.

For a faster and more organized transfer process, you can copy the music content from the saved folder to the iTunes library. You can install the iTunes for Windows program by following this link.

How to transfer music from Android to iPhone

It is now proven that you need a Mac or Windows computer to transfer music from Android to iPhone, unless you want to rely on third-party applications. If you have already transferred audio files from your Android phone to Mac as explained in the steps above, you can use any of the following methods to transfer them to iPhone.

Using the Finder on a Mac

So you’ve already copied your music to your Mac, but now how are you going to transfer it to your iPhone? On your Mac, open the Music app (formerly iTunes), which allows you to copy your music library from your Mac to your iPhone.

Use a USB-to-Lightning cable or USB-C-to-Lightning cable to connect your iPhone to your Mac. Next, launch the Finder app on your Mac.

Find the iPhone you have connected to your Mac in the Finder application and touch it.

Optional step (for new users): If this is the first time you are connecting your iPhone to your Mac, you will be asked a question in the Trust iPhone dialog box. On your Mac, you must press the “Trust” button.

The next step is to press the “Trust this computer” button on your iPhone when prompted.

You may need to enter a password for your smartphone, but in most cases unlocking your iPhone is sufficient.

You can see the System Administration screen in the Finder when your iPhone is connected to your Mac.

Automatic synchronization

Select the Audio tab at the top of iPhone Device Manager in the Finder.

Check “Sync music on iPhone” to enable music sharing between iPhone and Mac.

Select “All Music Library” under “Sync” if you want to transfer all the music on your Mac.

You can select your favorite playlists, artists, albums and styles in the sync pane if you don’t want to copy all your music to your iPhone library, but only want to transfer the songs from your library.

You can then start highlighting artists, albums, genres and playlists in the box below.

When all the music you want to copy is selected, click the “Apply” button in the lower right corner.

Your music will now be transferred from your Mac to your iPhone, and the process will appear as a “sync” at the bottom of the Finder window.

Manual synchronization

You can set up manual sync and control what is transferred to your iPhone if you don’t want music to be automatically copied from your Mac to your iPhone.

You must complete all the steps you did for the “Auto Sync” phase before you begin manually copying audio. Next, you will be directed to the iPhone’s device management screen.

Click on the General tab at the top after selecting iPhone in the Finder and check the “Manually edit music, movies and TV shows” box.

Now click the “Apply” button in the lower right corner.

You can now open the Music app on your Mac where you previously copied music from Android.

You can sort your music by selecting “Artists”, “Album”, “Songs”, “Music Videos” and “Recently Added” from the “Library” section in the left sidebar.

Select the tracks you want to transfer to your iPhone. You can select multiple tracks and albums by choosing the music you want to copy to your iPhone by pressing the Command key on the keyboard.

Drag an album or songs to the music application in your iPhone’s “Library,” described under “Devices” in the left sidebar.

You can check if something has been transferred by tapping on the iPhone in the left sidebar of the Music application after you have dragged all your music to the iPhone.

All the songs you copied will be visible on your iPhone.

Using Airdrop between your Mac and iPhone

If your music files are already synced from your Android device to your computer, you can transfer them from your Mac to your iPhone using this method.

When used together, Apple devices are considered seamless, with the Mac and iPhone being the main beneficiaries. Not only can you take phone calls directly on your Mac, but you can also copy from your Mac to your iPhone or vice versa easily and without cables. This is done using the old method that will be known to many as airdrop.

Airdrop can be used to transfer files of any type, including music, between your Mac and iPhone using only Bluetooth and WiFi connections. By following the connection instructions prepared below, you can use Airdrop to transfer music from your Mac to your iPhone.

Using iTunes on Windows

If you have copied Android audio files to your Windows desktop as described in the introductory steps above, you can use the iTunes program to transfer music from the PC to the iPhone.

To do this, use the USB or USB-C cable that came with your phone to connect your iPhone to your Windows computer. Once your computer is connected, open the iTunes application on your computer and click on “Device” in the upper left corner of the iTunes window.

Unlike the Mac, the iTunes application on Windows could only be installed to transfer all your music to the iPhone. So we’ll stick to moving all your music automatically in the following steps.

To sync your music automatically, tap the Music tab in the left sidebar.

Select the “Synchronize Music” check box in the right pane.

You can move all previously unzipped music into your iTunes library by checking the box next to “All Music Library.”

Finally, click the “Apply” button in the lower right corner to start the transfer process.

Using iTunes Match

Apple offers a paid iTunes Match service that, for $25 a year, lets you transfer all your songs and playlists to the iCloud music library, so you can access them anywhere. You can store your entire music library in MP3 and AAC formats (up to 100,000 songs), including those you’ve imported from CDs.

Open the Apple Music app on your Mac or the iTunes app on Windows to sign up for iTunes Match and click “iTunes Store” in the left sidebar. Scroll down, find the information you want, and click the “iTunes Match” link in the “Features” section of that screen.

The iTunes Match homepage will load in the window. Click the Subscribe button on the screen. Sign in with your Apple ID and password and enter your billing information.

All songs in your iTunes catalog are scanned and downloaded to your iCloud music library when your subscription is activated.

You need to enable the “Sync Library” feature in iOS to see all the songs that have been synced with iTunes Match on your iPhone. To do this, open the “Settings” application on your iPhone, and go to the “Music” section. Turn on the “Sync Library” switch in the “Audio” screen.

Allows you to play all your music on your new iPhone.

What else can you do?

If your needs are not met by any of the steps described in this post, or if you want to do something simpler than the steps described here, there is another way to transfer music from Android to iPhone. If your music library is not that large, the following cloud storage options make it easy to upload music content from one platform to the cloud and then download it to another.

Most of these cloud storage services offer free tiers that allow you to download content at a certain level, which can be a good alternative to iTunes Match if you don’t want to pay for music storage in the cloud. You can use different platforms to migrate all your songs and playlists to a larger music library.
