Bermuda hosts Yak & Co’s second mystery adventure. His first game was Agent A: A mystery in disguise that I experienced in 2019. Originally released in Bermuda as part of the worldwide Apple Arcade. At the time, the game had three islands, but it has since expanded to include a full set of six islands in the Switch version. Well, let’s see.

Meet Milton Aviator
An abnormal storm stranded an adventurous aviator in the infamous Bermuda Triangle a few decades ago. Years later, you, the player, show up to help Milton get home. To do this, you need to explore the surroundings of each of the six unique islands. The story is told in a flashback style through wordless scenes and additional photographs found on the island.

Balloon rescue
At the heart of Bermuda lies a puzzle, mixed with aspects of exploration. Your goal in the game is to progress around the island collecting orbs. You have to collect every orb to progress, and that can be a bit difficult at times, but it’s never been frustrating for me. The game is played from top to bottom and completely in 3D. We encourage you to explore each island from every angle.

Light balls are scattered across the Ach Island stage. When looking for tents, you have to deal with the environment in different ways. From opening shells to knocking over rocks to blasting sunken ships with cannons. The balloon ride is a surprisingly fun experience.

Finding other treasures
These are not just balls found on the islands, each island has its own map. With the statue that reminds us of the life of our brave pilot. There are also keys that open a secret door in the same color as the key to find other treasures.
The islands are detailed individual dioramas, all ripe for exploration. Most puzzles are cause and effect rather than logical. So they’re going to pull switches somewhere to get the temples off the grass. Or you can open an underwater dome and let a sea monster emerge.

Find map
Each island contains about 20 small balls that must be joined together to make one large one. The small stars or marbles begin to be abundant at the beginning and are easy to spot from the beginning of the level. But once you’ve found the most obvious balls, others are harder to find and present more difficulties. Once you’ve found a map on each island, you can use it to find the less obvious spheres. You have to collect four big balls to get to the next islands.

Their intrepid pilot Milton encounters all sorts of creatures, a sea creature with an old ship entangled in algae. And a skeleton pirate challenging you to find his treasure is just a small part of that.

Visual aids and controls
Because each level is bright and full of small details, you’ll have to keep zooming in to inspect everything. The camera controls work well, you can zoom in and out by pressing the shoulder button.
The directional buttons on the numeric keypad are used to scroll through the map, which takes some time to adjust. You can also use the touch screen, slide a finger and rotate the camera with two fingers. Once you get used to the controls, you can easily operate the camera, etc.

Visually, I love the game with its cartoonish graphics. All the islands are colorful and vibrant, with different environments to explore on each island. From Shipwreck Island, which has many wrecks that you can explore for trinkets. Lava Island, which, as the name suggests, is dotted with pools of hot lava.
The music and sound effects are excellent, some islands pay more attention to the sound effects than the music. It’s a good change for your ears to hear while you play.

Completion
My only complaint about Down in Bermuda is that if you zoom out, you can’t see the whole island. But this doesn’t necessarily have to do with the size of the Switch screen in manual mode, nor does it necessarily have to do with bugs in games.
I enjoyed puzzles in Bermuda until the end, just the right level of difficulty there. Enough challenges to give you a sense of accomplishment once you’ve conquered them. Balloon hunting is fun because you search everywhere to find all the balloons. And for that I give him our highest praise!
Final Verdict: Two inches up
